Heyyyyy, long time no see. ::taps mic:: This thing still on? So. 2017 is certainly a thing that is happening. Sorry I've been so MIA here, though I have been fairly busy elsewhere.

The new year saw me: spending vast quantities of time on the phone to my congressmen; starting Sisterhood of the Traveling Paperbacks, a book club podcast I co-host with my dear friends/talented booktubers Chelsea and Claire; continued posts over at Book Riot; freaking out about the various award nods to works published in Uncanny Magazine, the SFF mag I'm a submissions editor for; and, most relevant to this post, I've continued on my saga of tweeting a Star Trek fanfiction rec every day until the new series airs aka The Trek Rec a Day Project.

For those of you who don't follow me on twitter (you totally should, I basically live there: [twitter.com profile] kaytaylorrea) , my The Trek Rec a Day Project started wayyyy back in August of 2016 as a way to combat some negativity surrounding the upcoming addition to the franchise, Star Trek: Discovery. One fic rec a day didn't seem like too much to ask, especially considering I've been regularly reading Trek fic for a few years, now. Except then the premiere date was pushed. And then pushed again. And now we're expecting the show to air sometime either in the late summer or fall of this year. So. I'm planning to cap this project at 365 recs if we still don't have an air date, or try to make it to the premiere if it's within a few weeks of the 365 day (which I think is August 11? Don't quote me on that, though).

In the meantime! I wanted to point y'all in the direction of my recs, which are currently living on Twitter in three Moments, because apparently Moments go bananas if you put more than 100 tweets in one. Part I, Part II, and Part III. I'm slowing working on a ridiculously long masterpost in the format I use here on the blog, which I intend to post on premiere day (or day 365, depending).

I'm going to try to get back to more regular posts here, or at least giving you a heads up when I have stuff going on elsewhere. Happy super belated New Year, everyone!

In this very special edition of Fic Rec Monday, I'm sharing my fifty favorite fics from the last year. Like last year, I discovered a lot of great older fics, but this list contains only fics posted or finished in 2016 (no works in progress). There are a handful of fics from the last week of 2015 for logistical reasons. Here we go: 50 fics in 16 fandoms. )

Heyyyy, DW friends, long time no see! It has been a ridiculously busy end of summer/start of fall for me, topped off with me being really ill for the last few weeks. I'm feeling a better, which is good because little sister's wedding is next Sunday (I KNOW OMG).

Anyway, what better way to ease back into posting than a new edition of Fic Rec Monday? This week I'm talking about a project I've been running on Twitter, (you can check out the full thread here) where I've been reccing a Star Trek fic every day and plan to do so until the new show, Star Trek: Discovery, premiers. This plan started before they bumped the start date from January to May, so we'll see if I manage it.

Here are the first 31 fics in my Trek Rec a Day project! )

It's our second Fic Rec Monday in the Favorite Authors Project, where I put together a rec list with works by specific fic writers instead of by theme or fandom. This week we're talking about [archiveofourown.org profile] thehoyden, who has been writing awesomeness in all your favorite fandoms (okay, maybe not all of your favorite fandoms, but a lot of mine) for forever. They're also a semi-regular guest on the /Report, one of my favorite podcasts (coming at you with fangirl awesomeness since 2011).

I'm sharing ten of my favorite fics by [archiveofourown.org profile] thehoyden. (Keep in mind these are just my favorites. They also fic for fandoms I don't read often, like: Hikaru no Go, Naruto, Due South, Inception, etc.)

This week's Fic Rec Monday is all about Star Trek. I've been into the various incarnations of Star Trek (I used to watch TNG reruns every afternoon in junior high) for as long as I've been fannish, but didn't start reading much fic until the reboot movies came out. I love, love, love Trek fic because there are so many ways it can go! IDIC, right? My recs skew pretty heavily toward Spock/Kirk (because I'm weak to that, guys, I can't help it) with a handful of gen fics thrown in. Here are 32 of my favorite Star Trek fics:
I have been, and always shall be, your friend. )
