Okay, friends. I am a huge Harry Potter fan. This is maybe an understatement and also probably news to no one. You are also probably a huge Harry Potter fan. I was really excited about Cursed Child. And I just finished rereading the entire series (for the first time since Deathly Hallows came out because THAT EPILOGUE WAS A GREAT BIG PILE OF NO) so the bar was pretty low considering Deathly Hallows is my least favorite and I was just excited for new Harry Potter.

Friends. Friends this is not good. Below the cut are the reactions I had while reading, uncensored and unedited.

Today I'm over at Book Riot talking about the first books in three very different series. They're all great places for new (and experienced) romance readers to dive into the genre or just a great series.

We've got a law enforcement/lawyer story where our hero and heroine didn't start off on the right foot.

still holding a grudge

A historical where our heroine is a bit of a wallflower and our hero is, well, sort of emotionally incompetent.

ballroom

And a historical where our heroine is the eldest daughter of a very large family.

is this a kissing book?

Title: Lois Lane: Fallout
Author: Gwenda Bond
Genre: Media Tie-In, Science Fiction, Superhero, YA
Hardcover: 304 pages
Stand alone or series: first in a series
Book source: purchased
Format: E-book
Why did I read this book: I'm a big Lois Lane fan and I like novels set in comic book universes.
Publisher: Switch Press
Publication Date: May 1, 2015
Cover Copy:
Lois Lane is starting a new life in Metropolis. An Army brat, Lois has lived all over—and seen all kinds of things. (Some of them defy explanation, like the near-disaster she witnessed in Kansas in the middle of one night.) But now her family is putting down roots in the big city, and Lois is determined to fit in. Stay quiet. Fly straight. As soon as she steps into her new high school, though, she can see it won’t be that easy. A group known as the Warheads is making life miserable for another girl at school. They’re messing with her mind, somehow, via the high-tech immersive videogame they all play. Not cool. Armed with her wit and her new snazzy job as a reporter, Lois has her sights set on solving this mystery. But sometimes it’s all a bit much. Thank goodness for her maybe-more-than-a friend, a guy she knows only by his screenname, SmallvilleGuy.

Title: Aftermath (Star Wars: Aftermath #1, part of the Journey to Star Wars: The Force Awakens)

Author: Chuck Wendig

Genre: Science Fiction, Space Opera, Media Tie In

Hardcover: 366 pages

Why did I read this book: It was recced by a number of people with compatible taste and I was ready to devour any/all Star Wars media after seeing The Force Awakens. I’ve also been meaning to read something by Chuck Wendig and it seemed like a good place to begin.

Journey to The Force Awakens.

The second Death Star has been destroyed, the Emperor killed, and Darth Vader struck down--devastating blows against the Empire, and major victories for the Rebel Alliance. But the battle for freedom is far from over.

Trapped on an isolated world, a disparate group of rebels is all that stands between the galaxy’s freedom and the Empire’s fury.
